Welcome Mojo visitors :D oh yeah and IGN did some cool stuff

    Hi all

This is just a short news post and not so much of a blog entry

IGN is currently celebrating the respective Star Wars/Lucasarts anniversaries and have made one of their great IGN is AFK poscasts about it.

    Check it out HERE

The podcast features several Star Wars geeks and at least one former Lucasfilm employee (who seem to be a pretty big adventure fan :D )

If you have come here from the link in the MixNMojo news post: Welcome  enjoy your stay and look around. There isnt much but i try do what i can within the limitations of MSN spaces. There is a photo breakdown of the packiging of loom FM-towns, a minor photo review of the tapwave zodiac, a gallery of pictures of one of my friends posing for my webcam, and picture of my adventure collection in the phot gallery section. Browse around, i hope you enjoy at least some of the content on this site or some of the other sites linked to. Pay no attention to the odd fact that this news item was posted several hours after the Mojo news item that cites my site ;) (see here for source)

This is the first time i have ever been cited as a source for a Mojo news item, im definately going to have to mark it down onto my imaginary calendar of personally important adventure gaming community dates :D

Also as you may have noticed, i almost never capitalize the word  "I" i kind of find it sort of arrogant :P

    New Forum!!!! very cool :D

Just a short quick update this time, I have just opened a new forum check it out here. I hope to use this forum to stockpile content for the new site.

Geez, soon im going to have to call it the GloKidd network :P

Also I have added LOOM FM-Towns to my collecton Yay! :D. I have posted a photo breakdown of the packaging and contents as a new photo album

Once Again New Stuff is Happening

Over the last few days, i have been putting together a silly little page at Yahoo Geocities Check It Out .

Okay Its really just a silly little page wich is probably doomed to fade into net congestion obscurity, I just started it to attempt to get used to more complex content management systems. The MSN Space CMS is pretty light and easy to use, but is highly limiting. My recently added list of my adventure collection proved this to me. I cannot add titles per series, only add new entries to the list wich causes some messyness.

At the new site you can find a half-assed About Me Page cntining a mini Biography (which I will Probably expand on as time goes by) and a really basic list of my ScummVM Specific Collection. Plus i may post reviews to this site in preparation for my next big project.

What is that mystery project you ask?

Well... I could be all aloof and say something like "you all will just have to wait to find out" but really i dont see any reason to.  My next big project is: *Drumroll* www.technadventurolgy.com (working title, not yet a real site :P) This upcoming site will be a smattering of different themed blogs including:
    • Adventure Gaming News and Reviews
    • General PC/Console gaming reviews
    • Technology Reviews and reccomendations
    • Random fun stuff ;)
    • And more :D

I already have an additional news poster lined up, its someone everybody in the community knows in some way shape or form. I wont yet be revealing the mystery posters identity though, ill leave that up to him when we get to that point. With any luck ill manage to recruit a few more, that way the page will be updated far more regularly, sorta like mixnmojo.

Anyways, there has been a few other things that has happend since last i posted but to be honest im sort of tired of typing at the moment so it'll have to wait untill the next time.

My ScummVM for PalmOS Readme/FAQ is now up!!!

Hi all, I have been very busy lately. Why? (you ask, with a slight note of disinterest  ) because I have been working double time on the Readme/FAQ I have been writing for the PalmOS port of ScummVM. You can see the current work in progress in this entry in the PalmOS subforum of the Official ScummVM Forums. I am also proud to say that the Readme/FAQ is the current news item at Chrilith.com. This document is constantly growing, as every day more and more people post additional tips and tricks for getting the most out of ScummVM on their individual devices. If any of these contributors are reading this right now, thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it. All and all I really hope  this helps Chrilith out a bit, his excellent work with the PalmOS port of ScummVM has allowed me to carry the ability to play Monkey Island whenever i want in my pocket . I may have posted it a hundred times or so but thanks again Chrilith, You rock man!

I intend to post more about this as the document matures (It was posted 2-3 days ago and i have already edited it 14 times )

    till then...

New Additions to Site... Major Changes Planned

Well if you come here regularly (and really... who does? ) you will have noticed a lot of new things popping up. Ive been doing a lot of work on the site as I am preparing to evenually set up a real webpage with media, downloads, and really fancy widgets :P.

    The New Additions Are

~ A list of games in my Adventure Collection. Where possible I have set it up so each title has a link to their respective web page at Lucasarts Museum. In the future once i get my own webspace i will try to add more pictures To the Avdenture Collection photo album

~ A list of Wii links: The Wii is quite possibly the best system i've ever used. As a Monkey Island fan it is impossible for me not to get stoked at the concept of an entire console based on the "point and click" dynamic.

~New pics, and a showing of my new avatar. I've been fiddleing with Nero Photosnap and just the standard windows Paint program and am quite proud of how a few (not all ;P) of these turned out. 'Straight outta hell' is now my wallpaper

Basically I am going to take advantage of microsofts "generosity" and attempt to use this space as pseudo-Real-webspace untill i can get a real site up.

Until then expect to see lots of layout changes as I try to fit in the new lists i will be adding (lists ar very flexible :) )

Damn there is a lot of snow out side....

Okay so... I havent posted here in a really long time. So much has been happening over the last bit that my head is spinning.

    Where to start... Hmmm..... Updates

I upgraded my GPU to the new GeForce pci Card and have since been enjoying a plethora of new 3D adventures
    On that Note...

!!!Two Episodes of Sam and Max have been released since last I posted!!!

This is clearly an example of me failing to accomplish the goals established in my original Mission Statement for this blog.
While I apologize for this, I also make no promises to try any harder

The currently released titles are thus

    EP1: Culture Shock

A Villainous Mastermind has brainwashed 4 former child stars to promote his Hypnosis inducing ocular fitness tapes in order to dominate the airwaves.

    EP2: Situation Comedy

A famous tv talkshow host\guru cracks up and takes an entire studio hostage. I hate to say it but i think Oprah might end like this (wearing her Dr Phil suit)

Personal dislike of oprah/Dr phil aside, the games are fantastic, Telltate has been doing a fantastic job with the series and i cant wait for the next one.

Next on the list *opens scratchpad, flips a few pages* Oh yes!

    !!!!!!!The Nintendo Wii is out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only is it available but it has been world wide for quite some time now.
I managed to get one (and Zelda TP) on launch day, after a very long and cold lineup. That wal-mart was the only plake in the skeena region that had Wii's on lauch day. The place was packed, Mosly everyone was joking about the PS3 bb-gun drive-by incedent.
I also ran into an old "friend" of mine from almost 20 years ago. I was sort of messed up, but nevermind about that.

I recently completed The new Zelda and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. 50+ hours of steady progress during gameplay and boss fights that make you stand up and yell "Take That Mothe****er!!!" in victory make one hell of a combination.

    Next...

Over the last few weeks i have become way more active at ScummVM. I have always been around the forums a lot but lately i have been wanting to do more. These days you can see me pretty regularly at #scummvm on irc learning how to compile under Dev-C++, a process that i will probably document and commit to the WIKI. Recently in my spare time I have been working on a Readme/FAQ for the PalmOS port and have made significant progress on it. I sent the WIP readme to the PalmOS dev Chrilith and It sound like we should be able to get together on it and make a final draft fairly soon. In fact, with regards to ScummVM, the last few weeks have been fantastic. Currently peres (the dev creating the new parralaxion engne) has really been helping me a lot in figuring out how to compile ScummVM and in the process I have learned so much. A real bonus is that I get to see (and possibly even help) this new engine evolve into a stable release and in the process i can learn the fundamentals of Reverse Engineering an engine for ScummVM.

I am so ridiculously stoked about this I cant believe it (hence the lack of any formatting above)

I think my next ScummVM project will be a series of instructional videos for New Users, probably hosted via youtube. Ive found a few direct screen video capture program that should work for what i need it to. From there its just a matter of editing it together with a voice over and Descriptive visual effects. Im Looking forward to doing this one.

[Inert Favorite Chuck Norris Joke Here] ~sorry about the re-run.

Anyways, thats enough blogging for me for one day
    October 12

Yay, The New Computer is Here!!!!!

Okay, okay, it showed up about a week and a half ago, but Ive been busy. New computers seem always come with about a week and a half of work, setting up what progs/apps and games you want. Usually it happens that as soon as you get a new computer, you suddenly become aware of all these additional peripherals wou desperately need :).

So... I went out today and bought a new webcam, its a cheezy manual focus >40 dollar special. I bet you you cant guess wich pictures i recently added to my adventure collection are taken on my new cam :D

Tommorow Im planning to order a new GPU (Graphis Procsessor Unit, or something, for you non technicl people who arent visiting this blog anyway) as the Integrated Intel exreme graphics 2 card is an 82865G and doesnt support hardware transform and lighting, a feature required for the new series of Sam and Max games by telltale entertainment . Originally I was going to get the Nvidea GeForce FX 6200 pci card (Yes pci, unforunately I only have 3 standard pci slots, no pci-e or agp for expansion) but the card requires a 300w power supply. Okay, no prob, just chang the power supply, right, I mean... I have done it before, but I cant here as the Dell tech support guy said doing so would void my warranty. Additionaly, aperently Dell uses a proprietary power supply format, which would make upgrading the PCU very difficult. So Im settling for the Geforce fx 5500, basically the next step down, and a little more realistic for my system. My current 250w power supply fits the requirements to a T.

Anyways, this has officialy been my first Update from my house, sorry, Ill try to have something funnier next time

Sweet, ot only do i get the internet up at my place, but i get a free sweet ass comp to use it with. Im ridiculously stoked, i just put in the order with dell today. check out the specs:

Time to Update, Lets Vent... Stupid Landlords

    Well, today i had an inspection of my apartment (second in a 2 month period), which went fine, of course, hell i barely have people come over. While my landlord was there though she dropped pretty major bombs on me though;
    • She wants to show the house sometime next week (as they are trying to sell it)
    • She wants to up my rent again (last september they upped it from 375 to 400)
    • She threatened to cut my cable (which is apperently a pirated line from their upstairs, the reception is also shitty)
    • She accused me of having someone living with me (I had a friend who didnt want to walk down the hill at night crash on my couch a couple of times)
    • She accused me of incurring a 900 dollar utilities bill (I am barely home. From 8:45am to 9:15pm I am usually at my parents house helping my currently ill mother. When i am home i have a max of 4 lights on at any given time, and i watch TV -and\or- play video games -or- work on the computer -or- watch movies. I never cook there, only at my parents, i barely even use the heat. Hell, I dont even shower up there as the standing shower is really poorly built, i use the one at my parents. My point is that nothing I do up there could incur that size of bill, its impossible. More likely someone is stealing power from them somehow)

Needless to say, I am now in the market for a new place, and will either give my 30 days notice either tommorow or at the begining of october. I will not put up with this crap anymore. I really cant afford a rent increase, but if it has to happen, it will be somewhere else. At a 10 percent increase that would then be $440 a month when I get $856 a month in income. At that rate i am better off renting a house. I dont want to live in an apartment again as it is nothing but a hassle, I dont want another basement suite so i can avoid this exact situation ever happening again, and m not enamored with the idea of having another roommate ever, as all that seems to do is ruin friendships. One thing is for sure though i will never rent from these people again, and most likely i will make thier (often criminal) actions known to the rest of the renter community.

Anyways, this blog isnt just for me to bitch on, so heres some other stuff

ScummVM recently was informed by Paypal that they were in violation of the paypal acceptable useage policy, and can no longer accept donations via the paypal service. This is crap, and if lucasarts were actually invoved in the work that ScummVM does for them, it wouldn't fly. Dont get me wrong, lucasarts is in no way related to or affiliated with scummvm, but it is scummvm that provides tech support and engines that you need to play the LEC adventure games on modern computers. These guys give us all of their free time and deserve to get a bit in return. Basically the only way to donate right now is by sending them games and such via mail.

The following is a quote from Ender one of the project leads:

" As regular ScummVM web-viewers may have noticed already, we have removed the Paypal button from our site and are no longer accepting donations. Paypal has informed us that all software capable of playing a game on a 'system it was not sold for' is in violation of their Acceptable Usage Policy.

(As a simple example of stupidity, the Paypal games AUP makes the Apple Intel Mac illegal, as the Intel Mac can via emulation run games originally designed for the PowerPC Mac - a completely incompatible hardware platform. Of course, I don't expect to see these vanishing from ebay any time soon...)

Please feel free to e-mail aup@paypal.com and express your disappointment at their policies... Which make absolutely no sense for a project like ScummVM, which is often actively assisted by the original game developers and studios. :)

We are investigating alternatives for a donation system, if any of our users have suggestions of reliable and open-source friendly systems please post in this thread."

basically says it all, e-mail if you care, and let them know because the project could suffer. I hope to never see the day that the support level for scummvm, drops to that of freeSCI, or one of the other rarely updated RE'ing projects ( please take no offence to the comparison, its a blunt example yes, but i think, a nessisary one)

Once again this s getting way too long, and i should probably be looking for a house right now

till next time (and hopefully some better news)

    August 22

so a few new things for me to tell you

Well its been a while since the last update, ive been pretty distracted lately. I basically wanted to do this update so people dont think im obsessed with alicia. The whole last post was done at her request, and is getting a little old.

Lots and lots of neat little things have been happening lately. I have started playing guitar again, wich was something really important to me a few years ago but i guess at some point in the time since i had lost that passion for it i used to feel. That passion has been coming back these past few days though, ive even learned a few new songs. Ive got a lot of practice and catching up to do but, it sounds like fun so... rock on.
Ive also started working out again, doing whatever i can with the tools i have around at the time although its mostly just push-up's and sit-up's due to the lack of equipment at most times. Im looking forward to getting back in shape, ideally i would like to get back into the shape i was in when i was taking ninjutsu way back when. One of my really good friends, Mike Kilsby will most likely be leaving soon, heading back home to Van or maybe to TO or... who knows. It has been a great visit and we've all had a lot of fun, Im gonna miss him draggin my lazy ass out to have fun. Ive also been getting all these great ideas for the video game store that ive been thinking about starting her in kitimat; possible names, other products to sell to supplant the stores income (skateboards, clothing, specialty items fom E-Bay, etc)

In ScummVM news, The Nitendo DS port has been made official, and is now available on the downloads page of the ScummVM mainsite.
A nintendo DS subforum has also been added, a welcome addition in my opinion, as up to this point the forums have been largely biased towards sony (with a PSP and a PS2 port forum). I cant wait to get Monkey Island running on my DS and DS lite, all i need is a max media launcher and a GBA port Compact Flash reader. I love testing season for scummVM during times of new releases, and i wouldn't mind having one more reason to play all of those games over again, So, welcome to the forums to the author of the DS port AgentQ and i look forward to helping in any way that i can (when i can of course).

Also, In response to the recent comment left by "no-one" i have recently added a list of chuck norris one liners just below the blog portion of this space. There is also a linkTo chucknorrisfacts.com- the source of almost all my chuck norris one-liner (except for the ciggarette one, that ones mine)

I Have been watching a lot of flash cartoons at Newgrounds.com and thought id share one with you all
this is Called The Ultimate Showdown, it hilarious (and catchy, ive had the song stuck in my head for like a week and a half)

Also There Has been a new flash tool created to make Scumm style games with pre your existing flash animation skills, this is really, really, really cool. If you have any interest in flash animation this seems likely to open up the possibility of having an entire web site desigened as an adventure game. One could make it so everyone has a customizable avatar and the different parts of the site (news, forums, etc) could be integrated as different actual places to go (news stands, bars, etc). This is just one idea, this new script creation utility for flash is jam pack with possibilities. Heres the link

Well this is really really long now, but at least i got it updated

    Till next time
    August 15

OMG two blog entrys in one day WTF !!!

well, now for some news that isnt scummVM related. About a week ago this girl named Alicia Babish showed up in town and weve been hanging out a lot. Shes a pretty cool girl, a little loopy, but i dig it (i think shes cute, for the non hip ;D). I added a bunch of pics of her cause she asked me to, the messy hair one is my favorite. Shes gotten me to play guitar again so thats pretty cool.

The last few weeks have been pretty fun, just chillin, hangin out, etc. One of my best friend Mike Kilsby is also in town, so good times all round
Last weekend we had like 12 people on our front step partying. Now thats oldsKool, we havent party'd like that in like 5 years. It was great

Anyway its a short entry, so what, ya wanna fight about it?

    till next time

    ya wanna know some ridiculousness

This is a bit ridiculous and even a little scary

a couple of days ago 'KREST' at the scummvm forums found a 'scummgames' site wich offered a dvd with all the major scummvm games on it.
Not only were these the full versions of the Lucasarts games (MI 1-2-3, Indy 3-4, Zak, Maniac Mansion,LOOM, dott, s+m, Full T, dig) but also many other companies as well (revolutions,Broken sword 1-2, coktels gobliiins, and adventuresofts simon the sorcerer games to name a few)
The thing is its completely unlicences and illeagal so no lucasarts and revolution are preparing to sue the crap out of one james hall of the uk.
Speedy detective work by the coders at scummvm have really nipped this whole thing in the butt. Today gary williams, an apperent representitive of these comanies posted on the forum stating that the representitive for Revolution Games and Lucasarts Legal USA are very eager to locate the offender, and are currently in talks with paypal to get hid account info and address. Te representitive also stated that he was aware that there was no relation to scummvm aside frome the illeagal distibution of a free program. The first person to post in response to this was a Tony w. known to be the owner  (or at least high up honcho sorta guy) of revolution games stating that he predicted a riot, and the sites rapid closure.
this was all too scary though, this person get rich quick scheme really could have messed it up for us all, thank gaming god that we have a communitly of vigilant watchdogs working hard to ensure the safety of the project

Thanks again guys we love all the work you do there

Be Vigilant (thought it was appropriate)
    August 10

    fm-towns games effin rock dude

Today i got my Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Fm-Towns. Its effin Beautiful, theres even a japanese hint book. Im in awe.
Dimmu--Borgir is an awesome seller and im hoping to be able to get Zak Mckracken Fm-Towns from him at the end of the month.
Today i wall be cleaning out a 94 mercury sable to sell for parts to pay for Zak (350$ american plus at least 11$ for shipping)
ITS ALL COVERED IN MOLD (my local friends will get that, if they know what good for them ;) )

On a different note i left a log post at lucasarts forms yesterday
    the post itself is here
It seems that no-one has anything to say in response, probably because its all true
    August 02

Added new pics of my cool-ection, ya ya i know, i suck

Well... lets see today i added a whole bunch of pictures of my collection, its still missing some though. I also just bought Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Fm-Towns) From Dimmu--Borgir in Sweden, it should arrive in a couple weeks.

    Sooooo....
what else to say on the blog...

Well this one is primarily computer shtuff so if you bored youl just want to skip through this next bit (ill let you know when its safe to come back with a * line or something, you'll know it when you see it)

The other day i compressed The Curse of Monkey Island from just under a gig to just over 400 megs using the ScummVM 0.8.1 tools and a handy batch file by Sir-Dave of the PSP sub-forum. This is super handy for me as it allows me to put an entire 2 disc game on a single cd-r or 1 gig removable storage media. It seems to work pefectly with the semi-current SVN Snapshots that i test with, so... rock on

E3 Isnt dead Its Just been crippled, but maybe its nessisarry. Booth Babes, while hot, are needlessly sucking money from developers that would be much better spent on making the games better, or even (heaven forbid) used to take some risks and make original IP  (i mean Adventure games of course  )

Anyways, ill try to keep things up to date on the ScummVM front but nobodys going to read this anyway so i might get a little lazy about it

    *****************************************************************************************************************

OK Guys it safe to come back now

    *****************************************************************************************************************

Well today sucked, because its kitimat, and it sucks here. I went to the mall, saw a hottie a bunch of times, that was pretty cool i guess.
The other night I rented Final Destination 3, Its not a bad movie, it has a neat plotline, what with death being an intellegent force and whatnot. Its no damn star wars though . Oh Ya, Everyone dies like usual, sorry to ruin that for you (HE HE HE)

Nobody Felt that i Had the right to Sleep today, The Phone rang constantly it drove me nuts, So now Im Wearing a tin-Foil hat, and staggering around bare foot like the insane, sleep deprived Zombie that i am. No one shall enter my bUbbLe, no one, Buhuwahahah.

Sorry about that Im bloody tired

this is to long now damn it

    till next time
    July 27

    BlogStart 2000 and eff off

Yay, im starting a blog, isnt that awsome... okay its not yet, but it will be.
I fully intend to use this space as a place to rant about all sorts different shtuff like:
    Crappy Ass Kitimat
    Adventure Gaming
    My LEC Collection
    ScummVM
    How much Chuck Norris rocks
The state of gaming from a jaded gamers point of view

and ill probably swear a lot about idiots that come into my frequented forums and post fucking spam, dammit it happened 5 times today. one of my favorite forums is completely crippled with spam and the trolls have run off the mods- arrgggghhhh

    And now To Start

Kitimat sucks, this is breaking news to you all im sure, but it sucks a little more now as one of my friends just moved away

Adventure Gaming Rocks, Telltale Games is preparing the new episodic Sam & Max Games, so the next while is gong to be awsome. Also, fan made projects are now getting the respect and recognition that they deserve, Lori Cole (developer of the quest for glory series) supports the QFG 2 Remake by AGD interactive, and even Ken and Roberta Williams attended a press conference for the new game set in the land of daventry (kings quest series): The Silver Lining (or something like that at least)

My LEC Collection Is safe and well Preserved, im actually getting the FM-towns Version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in about a month

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files.
